The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act gave a break to formerd employees of companies with 20 or more employees by providinyg a subsidy that cuts the cost ofCOBRq health-care coverage by 65 percent. Illinois is extendint the same break to workers laid off from smaller companies. The bill signeds by Quinn provides a 65 percent healthn insurance payment subsidy to those who workedd for companies with fewer than20 employees. The bill gives employees of small businesses who lost their jobsafter 1, 2008, and who declined COBRA becausde of its high costs, a second chance to enterf the program.
